Gardens4Health

Growing healthy communities is the aim of this popular programme which provides advice and support to set up new and maintain existing community food gardens and related ventures.

Gardens4Health provides free, practical advice and support to community groups, organisations, workplaces and schools for the setting up of new community gardens and ongoing maintenance of existing gardens. 

The Gardens4Health team is currently involved in over 80 community gardens or initiatives across Auckland and provides access to a wide network of other gardens and useful resources.

Gardens4Health support food security and resilience and growing food organically.  Community gardens provide an opportunity to be a part of the local community, provide healthy food and opportunity for physical activity, save money, promote better mental health and spiritual wellbeing, help improve and protect the environment, and are increasingly recognised as having a positive part to play in climate change and extreme weather patterns.

Being a gardening expert is not required, but a group with time, enthusiasm, and commitment are. The experienced Gardens4Health team are there to provide practical advice and support for all seasons of food gardening in Auckland conditions.
