Our team of doctors work with patients’ General Practitioners to ensure the best possible pain and symptom management.

Hospice Nurses act as care co-ordinators and are in regular contact with patients and families to monitor their needs.  Whether it be symptom control for the patient, or support services for the family, the nurse will ensure the appropriate people are involved.

The Hospice team offers counselling, bereavement care and volunteer support to patients and their family/whānau and friends who have been involved with Hospice Tairāwhiti.

Volunteers are an essential part of Hospice Tairāwhiti.  They play a crucial role within the organisation and are highly valued and appreciated alongside our paid staff.

We have a dedicated and experienced group of volunteers who are able to support patients and families.  Tailored to the individual needs of patients, volunteers can offer support and company which can also allow carers sometimes out.  Volunteers also support patients living in aged care facilities.

We also provide a biography service offering patients the chance to document significant times in their lives.
