Chaplains

A chaplain visits the ward Monday to Friday during normal working hours and may also be available outside of these hours – please ask your nurse.

Takawaenga / Maori Health Coordinator, Manaaki Tangata

Tena koe, kei konei matou hei awhina atu i a koe. Kaua e mataku ki te tono mai i tetahi o matou. Patai atu ki te naahi.
The takawaenga/Maori health coordinator is available to support you during your stay in hospital to help with communication between turoro, whanau and professional staff. Your nurse can make contact for you at your request.

Social Workers

A social worker is available to offer a counselling and consultation service to patients and their relatives. You can also approach the social worker for assistance if you incur financial problems from being hospitalised. Social workers will assist with Meals on Wheels and other home help services, transport problems as well as arranging benefits and rest home and private hospital placements.
If you wish to speak to a social worker your nurse or ward clerk will arrange this for you.

The Kowhai Room

Situated at the end of the ward is a special room for those requiring palliative care. Kaipara Palliative Care services it. Relatives are encouraged to stay and, if they wish, may take an active part in the care.
