Description

Dr Charlene Borges graduated from the University of Otago Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction, after which she worked in both the public (Middlemore and Greenlane hospitals) and the private sector, gaining valuable and expansive experience.

Charlene grew up in Te Atatu and is a local resident. She has been mentored by and worked alongside Anthony Wong for several years. Charlene decided on practising in her local community so that Te Atatu residents and those from surrounding areas have the best dental treatment available on thier doorstep.

Charlene is the only female dentist in Te Atatu. She is well known to her patients for her gentle and caring manner and is great at making her patients feel at ease while providing them with the best treatment options. She is passionate about treating patients with the most long lasting treatments and hence invests in regular continuous education and new technology.

Charlene provides a wide range of treatment options to her patients and will tailor treatment to everyone's individual needs. She has a keen eye for attention to detail and carries out her treatment with the utmost care.

Along with providing a wide range of dental treatment, Charlene believes that a smile does not just end with teeth. This is why she also has a special interest in facial enchancement such as Botox and Dermal Filler as well as facial rejuvenation. Charlene has a growing patient base in Te Atatu that seek her out for this treatment.

Dr Anthony Wong is a New Zealand born Chinese who trained and graduated from Otago University Dental School in 1975.

After qualifying, Anthony chose Te Atatū Peninsula to start his practicing career and has been providing his services to Te Atatu and the surrounding suburbs' residents since 1977. His services include free dental treatment for the children and the adolescents under the ARDS approved and contracted dentist listing.

Continuous professional development courses are undertaken annually for new treatment ideas so that Anthony Wong's Dental Surgery can offer his patients the latest ideas in patient care.

Anthony prides himself on providing an impeccable service to his patients and is passionate about the dental care he provides. He continually strives to provide high quality workmanship. This passion and attention has resulted in a high number of regular patients who continually choose Anthony Wong for their dental care.

Anthony is passionate about giving back to the community and, not only does he donate to various charitable causes in the local schools, but for the last ten years he has given his Christmas vacation time to overseas voluntary missions. Anthony has volunteered his skills for the deprived and underprivileged, including orphaned children, in the rural communities of Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, where he provides not only dental treatments but also mentoring and tutoring of their training dental students.

He also extended his focus to mentoring and lecturing the trainee dental nurses in East Timor's Dili University, by  travelling to East Timor several times between 2013 and 2016. This new development was an extension of the dental programme within the ”One 2 One Charitable Trust" organisation.

All these overseas voluntary missions are self funded which Anthony takes great pride in undertaking.
