Bernie and his family immigrated to New Zealand in 1976, He has worked in medical positions in several countries including South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand. He has practised as a Gynaecologist on the North Shore for over 20 years.

Bernie holds an MBA and MPhil in Information Systems from Massey University. He has a BA in Philosophy and Logic from the University of South Africa and has also completed the Diploma in Professional Ethics at Auckland University.

He is a founding member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society and an Executive member of the Australian Menopause Society. He is also a member of the American Urogynaecology Society.

He has presented papers at many national and international conferences and has published articles in several leading medical journals.

He has published a book "Incontinence is NO Laughing Matter". This is easy reading and very informative on the subject.
