Dr Guy Fisher

Qualifications

MB ChB 2013 Otago; FRANZCOG 2024

Profile

I completed my medical training in New Zealand before undertaking further specialist training in London and Melbourne at internationally recognised centres for gynaecological surgery and ultrasound.

I am the only gynaecologist in New Zealand to have completed both:

  • The AGES-accredited Advanced Endoscopic Surgery Training Program (AATP)

  • The Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) through the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine

This rare combination of advanced surgical and imaging training means I can diagnose and treat complex conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and adenomyosis with exceptional precision.

In addition to private practice, I hold a public hospital appointment with Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau (Middlemore Hospital), where I have been appointed to develop and lead a new Gynaecology Assessment Unit for acute gynaecology and early pregnancy presentations, with ultrasound integrated at the core of assessment and decision-making. I am also appointed to operate as part of the hospital’s specialist endometriosis team.
