Jo qualified at Wits University (South Africa) and prior to his move to NZ in 1994, he was the Chief Medical Officer of a 50-bed hospital at a remote diamond mine. During that time, he completed diplomas in Tropical Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health and Health Services Management.

Jo enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has recently completed papers on Travel Medicine and Aviation Medicine.

Jo’s passions are endurance running and travel and these have taken him to fascinating locations, including Mongolia, Chile, Mt Everest, Antarctica, Namibia and China.
