Dr Megan Cornere

Dr Cornere has expertise in all fields of respiratory medicine and a special interest in lung cancer, chronic cough, recurrent infection and asthma. She will be working out of the Medplus Building on Hauraki Corner and welcomes all referrals.

Dr Cornere graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine in 1994. She then trained in Internal Medicine specialising in Thoracic Medicine and is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having gained her FRACP in 2001. With a keen interest in immunology and infectious disease she travelled to the United Kingdom where she studied for a PhD at Imperial College, gaining a fellowship from the British Infection Society. She was then awarded a grant from the Wellcome trust and continued her Research as a Clinical Fellow. Her research was aimed at manipulating the immune response to respiratory pathogens including influenza and tuberculosis. Following this she spent 2 years in San Jose California before returning to New Zealand in 2008 where she has been a Respiratory Physician at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals and Clinical Director of Respiratory Medicine for the Waitemata DHB.
