Dr. Mo Ziaei is a fellowship trained, award-winning and internationally recognised vision correction specialist with advanced expertise in cataract surgery, laser eye surgery, refractive lens exchange, implantable contact lenses (ICL), pterygium excision, and corneal surgery. With a track record of over 9,000 successful procedures, Dr. Mo combines surgical precision with a personalised, patient-centred approach to achieve outstanding visual outcomes. He typically performs around 1000 eye procedures a year and has an exceptional safety track record.
Dr. Mo completed his ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London—one of the world’s leading eye hospitals—in 2014. He achieved the top UK exam result for two of the three speciality exams during his residency and was subsequently awarded the Elizabeth Hunt & Brian Harcourt medals from the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He subsequently undertook prestigious fellowship training in both London and Auckland, further refining his skills in complex cataract surgery, advanced refractive procedures, and corneal transplantation.
He was awarded his doctoral degree from the University of Auckland for his thesis on Novel Treatment Options for Corneal Disorders, and he now serves as a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology, contributing to the training of the next generation of eye surgeons.
A respected researcher, Dr. Mo has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals and remains at the forefront of innovation in cataract and refractive surgery. He is frequently invited to lecture at leading international ophthalmology conferences, where he shares his expertise on managing complex cataract cases, optimising refractive outcomes, and advancing corneal surgical techniques.
Dr Mo Ziaei’s main interest are refractive cataract surgery as well as refractive surgery to correct focusing errors including short or near-sightedness (myopia), far or long-sightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism and presbyopia.
