Dr Bhat was born in India and grew up in NZ.  He graduated from Auckland Medical School in 2009 and has worked in Auckland Regional Hospitals in General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Geriatrics, General Surgery and the Emergency Dept as a house surgeon, during which time he completed a Diploma in Paediatrics.  He also worked as a Registrar in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care prior moving to Thames as a Medical Officer in the Emergency Dept.

Dr Bhat returned to Paeroa Medical Centre in December 2017 following his attachment here as a Registrar and works four days per week.
