Allan grew up in Scotland, but developed a love of sunshine and warmth, so came to New Zealand in 1987. 

He is a scholar of Christ’s College Cambridge and Magdalon College, Oxford.  He is a designated Diving Examiner for OSH, does Impairment Assessment work for ACC, but mainly enjoys the variety of General Practice in all its many aspects.   Allan also works for Whakatohea Māori Trust Board in Ōpōtiki.

He has travelled extensively and feels passion for environmental issues.

The term "vocational registration" indicates that this doctor has done some additional years of further study and has passed comprehensive examinations set by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
