Description
The Bethlehem Medical Centre was first established as a solo doctor practice in 1982. At that time Bethlehem was a small rural centre serving a community of predominantly orchardists. In a whirlwind of change Bethlehem has grown into a major suburban housing area with all the amenities to service the growing population.
Bethlehem Medical Centre has grown substantially since 1982 and now operates from two purpose built sites, one at Bethlehem and the other at Omokoroa. The practice is now one of the largest in the Tauranga area with a patient population base of around 14,000. A Cornerstone accredited practice with The Royal College of GP's ensures patients receive a very high standard of care. Bethlehem Medical Centre also provides teaching services for the new Registrars of the college. The practice is privately owned by 6 Directors who are all working GP’s within the practice, each bringing their own specialist interests. Four Directors work at Bethlehem and two at Omokoroa, they are supported by five locums, seven registered nursing staff and a team of ten working in the management/administration area.
