At The Doctors Te Whare Hāpara we have a friendly and dedicated team of medical professionals with a wide range of skills, experience and professional interests. We aim to provide consistent, high quality general practice services to all our valued patients.
Each of our doctors has special areas of interest and expertise, and can offer extra advice and better service for you (as per their area of interest).
We partner with Practice Plus to provide virtual GP services, as an extension after-hours of our regular medical centre team.

Our enrolment are restricted, please contact practice direct if you wish to be added onto a waitlist (to enrol at a future date), however we cannot tell you when this will be.
$30.50 patient co-payment to see General Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner (NON Community Services Card Holder) Effective 7 July 2025.

Public Holidays - CLOSED.
After Hours Cover: Phone GP practice and follow instructions. You will be transferred to an after hours nurse triage service who may direct you to Practice Plus (fees apply). Otherwise you can book GP appointment online at www.thedoctorsonline.co.nz (fees apply), this service is not open on Public Holidays.
Alternatively: We partner with Practice Plus to provide same day virtual GP appointments for enrolled patients, as an extension of our regular medical centre team.
Practice Plus is available weekdays 5pm until 10pm and weekends/public holidays 8am-8pm.

The Doctors Te Whare Hapara is on Desmond Road, which is located directly across from Gladstone Road (Main Street) opposite Gisborne Girls High School. Sean Shivnan Pharmacy is on the corner next door to the Medical Practice. There is a council 'Medical Centre' signpost installed.
Public Transport
Gisborne public bus stop on Gladstone Road (70m) from Practice.
Parking
Plenty of off-street parking provided, with 2 Disability-Wheelchair/mobility carparks allocated directly beside Practice entrance (as marked).
