Interests

Dr. Kristine Ng graduated from the University of New South Wales medical school, Sydney, Australia in 1994 with honours. Her residency years were spent in Australia and New Zealand.

She undertook dual specialist training in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine in Auckland and United Kingdom (UK).
Dr. Ng was awarded the Rose Hellaby Medical Scholarship in 2005-2006, enabling her to undertake postgraduate research at University College London (UCL), UK. The Centre for Rheumatology at UCL is one of the largest rheumatology units in the UK, specialising in autoimmune diseases (especially Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus and Inflammatory Myopathies). The UCL academic rheumatology centre pioneered B cell depletion therapy. Her research in UK centred on novel and targeted therapies for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory myopathies. 

Whilst she sees all Rheumatology conditions, her sub-specialty interests include Lupus, Inflammatory Myositis, Sjogren's syndrome and Scleroderma. She is experienced in biologic therapies for autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

Dr Ng has published in major peer reviewed journals and contributed to text book chapters. She has ongoing research interests with active involvement in international collaborative studies. She leads the Rheumatology Clinical Research Group at Waitemata DHB.

She serves as a medical advisor for the Scleroderma NZ Association.

She has an active teaching role as Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Auckland and FRACP college supervisor for rheumatology advanced trainees.
 
She is a member of the New Zealand Rheumatology Association (NZRA), American College of Rheumatology (ACR), Auckland Chinese Medical Association (ACMA) and Pulmonary Hypertension Society of Australia & New Zealand (PHSANZ). 
 
Kristine initiated the ACMA mentorship programme in 2014 and was in the ACMA executive committee from 2014-2018. She continues to be a mentor in the ACMA mentorship programme.
 
Dr. Ng is a registered specialist consultant Rheumatologist who works at Waitemata District Health Board.
