Qualifications

Profile

I was born in Sri Lanka and moved to New Zealand in my teens. I graduated from Auckland Medical School, and hold a Diploma in Paediatrics from Starship and Diploma in Tropical Medicine at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I worked with the World Health Organisation for 2 years during the final years of Sri Lanka’s civil war. Upon returning to NZ, I completed my GP Fellowship training, and worked as a full time GP for 10 years in Māngere. I started working at Three Kings A&M in July 2019, and am loving the diversity of ethnicities and patient issues that present, and the great staff. I enjoy being a GP – it is a privilege to have patients share their stories and lives with us, and there is benefit to a long term doctor-patient relationship built on kindness and trust. I do minor surgery, joint injections, dermoscopy, and contraceptive procedures. Outside of work, I enjoy making a mess in various ways – cooking, painting, gardening, fermenting. I enjoy going for runs with my Huntaway cross. I write short stories, travel articles, essays, flash fiction and mediocre poetry. I am utterly addicted to books and dogs.
