The Change Place, based in Whangaparaoa, provide services across the Rodney area focused on stopping family violence by providing psycho-educational programmes and counselling to those who are users of violence as well as to the victim-survivors of family violence, including adults, youth and children.
Our services and programmes support:
- Women who have experienced any form of abuse within their relationship, such as emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, physical violence. This may include behaviours that are controlling in nature and may cause isolation.
- Men who recognise that their behaviour is causing harm to their partners or children, and who may struggle to manage their anger in the context of intimate partner relationships and within their family. Men who are looking for different ways of communicating and relating.
- We use play therapy and counselling with children and young people from 4 to 18 years of age who have been exposed to and experienced family violence/abuse.
We also offer safe, confidential and professional counselling services to women and men who have experienced any form of abuse in a relationship.
