Dr James McGarvey

James has extensive sports medicine experience having worked in a number of leading practices in Australasia over the last decade - including the Foot and Ankle centre in Adelaide and Olympic Park Sports Medicine in Melbourne. He has an interest in rugby medicine and for the last 2 seasons has been working full time as team doctor for the Chiefs super rugby franchise, enjoying back to back titles. He was the tournament physician for the Heineken Open tennis tournament for five years, previously ran the Auckland University post-graduate diploma in sports medicine as a senior lecturer and is a sports medicine reviewer for the British Medical Journal. He is co-author of the sports medicine research review, which regularly updates New Zealand subscribers on cutting edge sports medicine research.

He is now back permanently at Unisports and continuing his passion for top quality sport and exercise medicine advice.
