Mr Gareth Rooke

Gareth is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, specialising in Foot and Ankle surgery. He has a particular interest in ankle and hindfoot arthritis. He is an expert in all aspects of foot and ankle pathology, as well as hip replacement and lower limb trauma. In addition, as part of his public practice at Wellington Hospital, Gareth treats patients with pelvic, acetabular, or complex peri-articular trauma, including the use of circular hexapod external fixators.

Gareth completed his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh and further surgical training in the UK and New Zealand. After finishing his advanced orthopaedic training in New Zealand, he undertook international subspecialty training as the Major Trauma Fellow in Liverpool, UK, and the Foot and Ankle Fellow in Calgary, Canada.

Gareth is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons (UK). He also holds memberships in the New Zealand Foot and Ankle Society, the New Zealand Trauma Society, the AO surgical trauma foundation and an associate membership in the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (UK).
