Mr David Lees

David is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with advanced training in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery.  He enjoys all aspects of orthopaedics, and he has dedicated his subspecialty training to the treatment of complex problems in the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

David completed his schooling in Tauranga, his medical training at the University of Auckland and post-graduate studies in surgical anatomy through the University of Otago. He trained for his orthopaedic qualifications in New Zealand, completing these in 2019.  He has undertaken further subspecialty fellowship training in both New Zealand and Australia in shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand and microsurgery.

David is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

With David's approach to orthopaedic practice, he will seek to understand the challenges you face and the goals you wish to achieve.  He works hard to ensure you understand the options available to you, and work with you to plan the best pathway to meet your needs.

David is involved in the training and development of aspiring surgeons as well as local health professionals.  He has taught through the University of Auckland and the University of Otago, as well as serving on the training board for the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and the trainees association for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
