He has a keen interest in Sports Physiotherapy and Elderly Care. Nathen has extensive professional experience as physiotherapist to:

- National age group representative basketball
- Provincial age group representative football
- Auckland High School/College health clinics
- Age Care Facilities
He intends to further his studies with a post graduate Diploma of Sports Medicine/New Zealand Sign Language
