Our community clinics are closed on weekends and public holidays.
During these times, Accident and Urgent Medical Care is available at Rawene, located at the main entrance of Hokianga Hospital.
Monday to Friday, and weekends from 9:00am to 4:30pm
For accidents or urgent medical issues that cannot wait until your next community clinic appointment.
After Hours (from 5:30pm onwards) KA ORA Telehealth is available by phone or video. You can speak with a doctor, nurse, or nurse practitioner.

The Hokianga model of healthcare has its foundation in what was known as the Hokianga Special Medical Area (1941-1993) which was developed under the visionary leadership of the legendary Dr George McCall Smith.
Comprehensive healthcare services are provided at Rawene Hospital / Accident and Emergency services and ten community clinics located throughout the remote regions of Hokianga by an integrated multi-disciplinary team of health practitioners and support staff.
Rawene (or Hokianga) Hospital is one of Northland's Public Hospital services funded by and provided in conjunction with Northland District Health Board.
Generalist community health nurses cover the full range of nursing services in close association with general practitioners who also cover the medical management of the Hokianga / Rawene Hospital under the Rural Hospital Medicine scope of practice.
Enhanced primary care and disability support services are woven together to create a seamless and efficient model where the needs of patients, whānau, and community are at the centre of care and where barriers to access, such as cost and distance are minimised.
All of the services, including general practice clinics, are provided at no cost at the point of care for enrolled patients.

Primary health care services are provided in association with Te Tai Tokerau PHO and the hospital, community, maternity, disability support, public health, mental health and oral health services in association with Northland District Health Board (DHB).

This practice is accepting some new patients to enrol, but with restrictions.
We are enrolling patients who are living in Hokianga for the past 3 months. Patients will need to provide identification and proof of address. If you wish to enrol please contact Hauora Hokianga (09)4057709.
Fees
This is a free clinic for Hauora Hokianga enrolled patients. There will be a charge for visitors.

Urgent Care appointments are avaialble from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday - please call reception first at (09) 405 7709, our reception staff is there from 8 am, Nurses start at 9 am. If you are a visitor to Hokianga and have a non-urgent medical problem or you are needing a prescription we suggest you call your normal doctor's practice.
After hours: We partner with Ka Ora Telecare to provide same day virtual GP appointments for enrolled patients, as an extension of our regular medical centre team.
Ka Ora Telecare is available weekdays from 5pm to 8.30am and 24/7 weekends/public holidays.
