Originally from the UK I trained as a Registered Nurse at the Queens Medical Centre Nottingham where I worked for a couple of years before training and qualifying as a midwife in 1985. I worked in all areas of the birthing unit at the Queens for several years and as this is a large teaching hospital with over 5000 births a year the experience was invaluable. Following this I worked as a community midwife focusing on antenatal care, home birth and postnatal care in the community and family home.
In 2004 I moved with my husband and three children (all now teenagers) to New Zealand and I did a short induction at North Shore Hospital before joining Hibiscus Coast Midwives the same year.
Being able to provide midwifery care to families throughout the whole of their pregnancy is an honour and pleasure. My many years of experience in all aspects of midwifery care from home birth to high risk specialist care give me confidence to help parents make informed choices and decisions about pregnancy and birth.
I can only do this amazing job because of the support of my family and other Hibiscus Coast Midwives, thanks guys.
