Midwifery Service
Description
I have been working as a midwife for 40 years, the last 28 as a self employed LMC midwife focusing on primary care and working from Pukekohe Birthing Unit. I cover all of the Franklin area and surrounding rural and remote rural areas. I am passionate about continuity of care within the primary care setting and specialise in natural birth, water birth and home birth. I work alongside 4 other amazing and experienced midwives to provide 24/7 care. However, should you prefer or require to be delivered at MMH, then antenatal and postnatal care may also be an option as I only birth at Pukekohe Birthing Unit.
I also work with midwifery students and from time to time they will be accompanying me and be part of your care. This is a very crucial and important part of their learning. You will have the option to decline having this involvement.
Pukekohe Birthing Unit is a great place to birth in. It boasts an amazing and unique Resource Centre to provide you with all the information you will need for your pregnancy and beyond, as well as access to a group of experienced and committed midwives, the Pukekohe Birthing Resource Centre Midwives. We are here to meet your needs.
If you are unsure of where you should birth, then this can be fully discussed, as not all women are suitable to birth in a primary care or homebirth setting. However, NZ & international research clearly demonstrates that if you are a healthy well women, then the best outcomes for you and your baby will be choosing to birth in a primary birthing unit such as Pukekohe.
