The team of addiction specialists provides case management including comprehensive assessment and treatment for those experiencing a moderate to severe addiction. They also provide education on the effects and risks of addictive substances, and referral to regional community services. Treatment packages may include referral to residential or de-toxification services. Comprehensive assessments are completed prior to formulating all treatment plans. The team also includes Peer Support Specialists.

Self referral, GP, DHB clinical services
Individuals can self-refer by calling 022 000 7628. Alternatively, referrals can come via GP or other local mental health or community organisations. Referrals are also received from the Probation Service.

South Canterbury Opioid Recovery Service provides methadone or alternatively buprenorphine as treatments for people with an opiate addiction. Ongoing care includes psychiatric assessment, medical assessment from a GP, case management with a registered nurse, peer support workers and community support services.
