Description
The Regional Rangatahi Adolescent Inpatient Service (RRAIS) is the acute adolescent inpatient unit for the central region. The service is for youth aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing acute mental health problems.
We provide a bicultural service based on Kaupapa Māori frameworks and mainstream clinical models.
Our service includes:
- An assessment and treatment led by a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist. Daily care and input from a multi-disciplinary team.
- Cultural assessments where indicated.
- Whānau centered care and treatment with a focus on recovery and supporting youth when they leave the unit.
Located at Kenepuru Community Hospital, Porirua.
