You will speak to a member of our team or the intake team who will check that this is the right service for your needs.
Mental Health Services for Older People can work with:
- Individuals aged 65 years and over who are suffering from severe mental health issues
- Individuals of any age who are living with dementia and are experiencing significant behavioural and psychological problems
- The Memory Clinic sees individuals who require diagnostic clarity around complex early memory problems
Mental Health Services for Older People has a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers who can all support you.
What to expect
You might see the Mental Health Services for Older People Service at Tauranga Hospital, our Whakatāne clinic or we can see you in your own home.
Our service provides:
- specialist diagnosis assessment and treatment
- specialised dementia support for behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and complex dementia
- tailored plans to keep you safe and well at home
The Memory Clinic sees individuals who require diagnostic clarity around complex early memory problems.
Government funding of health and disability services means that eligible people may receive free inpatient and outpatient public hospital services, subsidies on prescription items and a range of support services for people with disabilities in the community.
