Referral Process
You are eligible to receive our services if you have the following:
• A psychiatric diagnosis,
• Are referred by a psychiatric clinician,
• Have a current needs assessment,
• And are aged 18 years and over.
Description
Established in 1997, this is a community support service that operates in both Ōtautahi (Christchurch) and Murihiku (Invercargill). Kaiāwhina are trained and supervised mental health support workers who assist people in the community that have a mental illness. They work alongside takata whaiora (clients), their whānau (family), case managers and others to enable them to regain /maintain wellbeing and move towards a more independent lifestyle.
