Referral Process
Alcohol and Drug Services are available at Dannevirke.
Referrals are welcome and you can contact Alcohol and Other Drug Services directly or referrals can be made through a number of sources including:
- Services within the hospital and other specialist mental health services
- General Practitioners
- New Zealand Transport Agency
- Justice and other community agencies

Description
This service provides assessment, treatment, counselling and referral to residential and day treatment services, when necessary. We also provide:
- Methadone Maintenance Treatment (OST)
- Withdrawal Management
- Groups
Treatment and groups can focus on:
- Abstinence from alcohol/drugs
- Reduction of alcohol & drugs
- Harm reduction
- Safer controlled use of alcohol/drugs
- Relapse prevention
Alcohol and Other Drug Services are provided for people over 18 years of age:
- With alcohol and/or other drug problems/dependence
- With co-existing mental health and alcohol and/or other drug disorders
- At risk of relapse
