Referral Process

A referral can be made by a child or young person, their parents or caregivers, a GP, the child’s or young person’s school or by other services they may be involved with such as - Probation Service, Police and staff working on the 0800 mental health line (0800 223 371).

This will then be screened by our team if the referral is appropriate for our service or not.

Referrals are primarily received via phone, mail, fax or by self-presentation.

Description

The Northland Child & Adolescent Service team are a secondary care mental health service seeing rangatahi / young people aged 0-18 who have severe to moderate mental health concerns.

We work closely alongside the young person and their whānau to achieve goals that are set collaboratively so they can live to their fullest potential.  The service includes assessment and therapeutic intervention from key workers and psychologists and psychiatry. This is a skilled multidisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrist, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists.
