Pou Whakaaro for Recovery offers:

Description

Our Pou Whakaaro for Families office is a place where families and caregivers can meet for emotional support, information and linking to other services. We can also travel to meet you at your home, business or community within the Eastern Bay. Our team can support families where a member is living with a mental illness.

We provide:

• family/whānau advocacy
• family/whānau emotional support
• home visits
• linking and liaison with mental health and wellness services
• information and education
• peer support and wellness activities
• library and resources
• Straight Up Programme for 7-12 year olds who have a family/whānau member affected by mental illness

We regularly run groups and get togethers, and have guests in to share their skills and expertise.

Pou Whakaaro's Life Skills Services partner people to live life well. We offer services located in Whakatāne and Kawerau for people who have a disability and/or experience mental illness. 

Through accessing community activities and offering our own programmes we:

Our team assists people who have a disability and/or experience mental illness to find paid employment through Vocational Support and Microbusiness.

Vocational Support offers:

• A pre-employment course
• Career planning
• Developing a CV
• Sourcing employment opportunities
• Ongoing support for those who gain employment

Microbusiness is an innovative programme teaching self-employment skills for the people we partner. It allows people to:

• Identify their skills and passion
• Learn business skills
• Establish plans and goals
• Work at their own pace
• Identify gaps in our market
• Develop products or services
• Build confidence
• Contribute to the community
