Quitline is committed to helping all New Zealanders quit smoking, with a particular focus on Māori, Pacific peoples and pregnant women. Our services are free. People who smoke - or vape - can access our support via telephone, text , webchat or online. We help clients to understand the three parts of their smoking addiction - chemical, emotional and habitual - and formulate strategies for beating these. To combat the chemical part of the addiction we provide subsidised nicotine patches, gum and lozenges. In addition, to enable health professionals in the community to provide subsidised nicotine patches, gum and lozenges we coordinate the Quitcard programme. Callers can opt to talk with a Māori advisor.
