Description

RI International dba Recovery Innovations provides WRAP, WELL (Wellness and Empowerment in Life and Living), Recovery Employment and other recovery education courses as well as Peer  Supporter Training (Peer Employment Training) for Tangata Whaiora, in the Counties Manukau communities and region.

RI International is truly a global organisation. With more than 51 programmes across the United States and abroad, RI specialises in Crisis, Health, Recovery and Consulting Services. Our core values are woven throughout: recovery culture, clinical best practices, safety, measured value and results, quality and compliance and serving as a key resource for First Responders.

RI Crisis (our fastest growing area with new programmes in Arizona, California, Delaware, Texas and Washington State) is rapidly expanding while enhancing technologies and service lines within our existing array of Recovery Response Centers (Crisis Stabilisation Programmes), Evaluation & Treatment (Involuntary & Court-ordered Treatment), and Crisis Respites.

RI Health provides temporary and permanent housing, recovery education, and transition management programmes; all areas of great strength for RI International. Our programmes are focused on increasing education and employment opportunities, as well as assisting with short and longer-term housing to help ease our participants’ transition while integrating back into the community.  In addition, RI Health is in the process of adding clinical, medical, and routine primary care by creating fully-integrated health homes. We’re doing so to provide even more well-rounded services that strengthen our capabilities to support individuals at risk of suicide, co-occurring substance use disorder, and/or co-morbid serious medical conditions including diabetes, COPD and heart disease.

RI Recovery has had a global impact on the mental health field serving as a demonstration that recovery from mental illness and/or addiction is possible. Using principles and practices that create recovery opportunities, RI Recovery offers Wellness Cities in multiple locations in five states, providing individual and group peer support, physical fitness gyms, and education and socialisation programmes. We’re currently expanding our Peer Bridger/Navigator opportunities to ensure successful community transition of our participants (diverting from inpatient hospitalisation and re-admission). We’re placing an emphasis on demonstrating measurably both the recovery and cost-savings benefits of these programmes.

RI Consulting provides consulting and training services around the globe.  Subject Matter Experts from throughout the organisation provide consultation regarding key programs including; Next-Gen Crisis, Transition Management, Integrated Outpatient and Peer Support, Suicide Prevention, Health and Wellness and Co-Occurring SUD.  RI Consulting’s Peer/Recovery Support Certification is the most transferrable in the world.  In addition to providing consulting and training in nearly every state, we’ve provided services throughout the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales) as well as Belgium, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Description

RI International of New Zealand offers the following Recovery Education Opportunities:

WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan:

Held Monday to Thursday, from 10am -12 pm, Thursday evening until 7:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon. Level 3, Westfield Tower, Manukau Shopping Centre.

In this class, people enter a supportive environment where they can share and build relationships that promote recovery. The 5 keys concepts for WRAP are Hope, Personal Responsibility, Education, Self-Advocacy and Support. This class helps empower participants and provides validation and support for their recovery.

WELL: Wellness and Empowerment in Life and Living:

WELL is held Monday to Thursday, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Saturdays from 1:00 - 3:00 PM Level 3, Westfield Tower, Manukau Shopping Centre.

In WELL class, we address continuing wellness in all aspects of daily life. The class approaches the whole of the person; prompting mental, physical, social, financial, spiritual and general wellness. Strength and experiences are valued and used to succeed in recovery/wellness goals. The purpose of the class material is to encourage discussion of options and opportunities.

My Wellness, My Doctor, and Me:

This class provides knowledge and tools to help participants become fully engaged in their medication management while effectively working with their doctor. The goal is to help understand that each person has the right to fully and actively participate in their own recovery and health care. During the class each participant creates a Medication Side-Effect Tool, and another tool called; Preparing To Talk To Your Psychiatrist or GP, so you can plan ahead for visits.

My Personal Wellness Plan:

MPWP is designed to help class members identify the work they desire to do within their 9 Dimensions of wellness (SAMHSA identifies 8 dimensions for wellness work). Participants identify their goals and plans to achieve those goals in a safe learning community environment where all perspectives are welcome.

Recovery and Employment:

Designed to support people looking to move forward in their employment process, each 3-hour class will assist individuals in developing skills-based curriculum vitae, as well as covering interview skills and job expectations. The class is held in a supportive learning community environment where people grow and share together.

Transformational advocacy; Developing your system advocacy skills:

This training guides participants through the steps and skills of advocacy including; methods of managing conflict, team work, planning, and much more. This training assists those interested in becoming a system advocate and assists in developing skills including; communication, conflict management, team building and public speaking.

Advocacy for Positive Outcomes – Becoming a strong self-advocate:

Due to the stigma that surrounds mental health challenges (held by ourselves and by others) engaging in community activities and jobs can become difficult.  In this class we work with participants to provide tools for overcoming these challenges and to develop personal advocacy skills using class interaction, role plays and guided questions.

Peer Employment Training (PET):

This class develops the skills needed to be hired as a Peer Support Specialist. It’s an opportunity for people to take charge of their own recovery and give back to the community by helping others do the same. Peer employment training recognizes that there is no better person to inspire hope in those new to addictions or/and mental health recovery, than someone who has “walked the same path.” A skill-based training, PET prepares individuals to work in the field of peer support.

Recovery In Action:

Classes held every two months (six times per year).  Please call (09) 2636035 for schedule details.

This is an event to celebrate Recovery. We meet to build social connections through a variety of activities. In the summer, we spend a lot of time outdoors to enjoy the beautiful Sun of New Zealand. In the winter, we serve hot soups or spaghetti bolognese while enjoying activities such as Karaoke to lift each other’s spirits. In these events, we “korero” celebrating life in recovery.
