The Triage, Assessment, Crisis & Treatment Team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to provide advice, assessment and/or treatment to people in an acute phase of a psychiatric illness.

This team is responsible for assisting people in managing mental health crisis events, identifying risk factors and where necessary, admitting consumers to the Inpatient Unit. All TACT members are "Duly Authorised Officers" who can assess and admit under the conditions of the Mental Health Act 1992. This is a 24 hour-7 day service for people either in the acute phase of a psychiatric illness, or at risk of an acute episode, and who may require assessment and short-term follow up. The TACT team is also the first point of contact for any member of the public or other agency who have concerns about someone in the community who may be suffering from an acute or crisis episode of psychiatric illness. The mental health and addictions services' geographical region extends from Glenavy in the south to Rakaia in the north and inland as far as Mount Cook.
