We are a Pacific Community Mental Health service funded by the Ministry of Health to provide free specialist mental health services for Pacific children and adolescents between 0-19 years in the Porirua basin.  We provide culturally appropriate assessment and intervention for our Pacific Island service users and families.

The Youth 2007 Survey and Ministry of Health data show that Pacific young people are approximately twice as likely to have depression, be anxious, or to make suicide attempts, compared with the rest of the youth population. Pacific young people are approximately half as likely as European young people to be hospitalised for depression or a suicide attempt. [Source: Ministry of Health, 2008; Craig, Jackson, Han & Committee, 2007].

We believe that early identification and intervention is so critical and can lead to improved achievement in school and better health outcomes in life.
