Tipu Ora - Stop Smoking Service

Mental Health & Addictions Service

Description

The Tipu Ora Stop Smoking Service (TOSS) is a FREE programme providing you, friends and your whānau/family with support, advice and strategies to quit smoking.

For people who smoke, quitting is the very best thing they can do for their health, and for the health of their whānau (especially their children), and friends.

Our Smokefree Support Service covers Rotorua, Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino to provide you, your whānau, friends and even workplaces with support, advice, tools and strategies to help you along your smokefree journey. We know quitting is hard and we aim to give you the best chance of being smokefree.

Who can access this service?

We deliver our service throughout Rotorua, Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino. Anyone living in these areas can access the service for FREE. You can arrange to visit us at any of our offices or we can come to you at your home, workplace or even a public, convenient place of your choice.

How does it work?

Our service is delivered using a kaupapa Māori framework, placing the whānau at the centre and providing a holistic service. We aim to meet your needs, so the delivery of our service is very flexible. We just ask one thing, we visit you face-to-face to get you signed up and one more time after you are smokefree for four weeks so you qualify for the incentives. The rest is up to you; we can provide support in group settings, one-to-one in our office, the community or your home, by phone or other platforms, you choose how often you receive support and you choose when you want to stop. Our job is to provide you with the information, support and tools (such as medicines and strategies) to help you take control of your quitting journey.

Incentives

While the health benefits of quitting are incentives themselves, we want to reward you for taking such a big step and stopping for you and your whānau!

If you remain smokefree for 4 weeks and complete a CO reading confirming you are smokefree, you will receive a $50 Kmart or Pak’n’Save voucher*

Hapū māmā receive up to $200 in Kmart or Pak’n’Save vouchers*
