Our referrals come from maternal mental health services in the Waitemata DHB and Auckland DHB areas.
He Kākano Ora (‘seeds for life’) offers residential respite support for mothers to recover from mental health difficulties between the first trimester of pregnancy through to their baby turning one year of age. We also offer support to families in their homes.
At He Kākano Ora we can:
The respite service is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our registered health professionals and experienced staff work alongside our mothers in our spacious home in Te Atatu which is well resourced. We provide a relaxing environment that promotes wellness and recovery and fosters attachment between mothers and their babies. We recognize that you drive your own recovery and our approach is based on helping you to identify and utilise your strengths. He Kākano Ora staff will also respect your cultural needs and ensure that you are in a safe environment that you can enjoy.
