Referral Process

All West Coast DHB mental health clients who identify as Māori are eligible to receive Māori Mental Health services.

Description

Te Rauawa o te Waka Hinengaro Hauora work with whānau/family to manaaki/support their journey to wellness using tikanga/customary Māori health models of care.

Te Rauawa o te Waka Hinengaro Hauora also has a Kaumatua who works across  both sectors mainstream and Māori Mental Health. The Kaumatua's role involves having a wealth of knowledge and giving practical guidance for all things Māori. When required, they support staff and patients with everything related to Tikanga Māori, from Karakia, Powhiri, Mihi Whakatau, Te Reo and working alongside the Tangata Whaiora (client) and whānau.

Fees

No fees apply.

Public Transport

St John runs two rural shuttle services from Monday - Friday. St John do not charge a fee for this services, however they do accept donations to help cover costs.
