Based on the Whanganui Hospital campus, ICAMHAS provides services to those who reside within the WDHB boundary. Clinics are held in the rural areas for those who do not live in Whanganui city.

Referrals are made through the triage nurse at Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions. Phone (06) 348 1901.

Description

Our Infant, Child & Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Service (ICAMHAS) promotes the mental health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and their families/whānau through its specialised mental health service. ICAMHAS offers child and adolescent mental health assessments and treatment for those from infancy to age 18 years who are referred for having a suspected or identified, moderate to severe mental health illness or addiction.

Mon – Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Public Holidays: Closed on all public holidays.

Fees

There are no costs for services for citizens or residents of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Staff

All WDHB Mental Health and Addiction Services have a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of health professionals who work together with the service user and their family to ensure they receive integrated care to help with their recovery and discharge.

The WDHB has kaumātua and kuia available to provide cultural support to patients/service users/tangata whaiora and their whānau, if required.
