Description

Our Resource Information and Support Centre is a welcoming place where you can access a wide range of information and resources. Our Resource Centre also has Peer to Peer Support Groups and a Volunteer Programme.

  • Mental health, addictions, disabilities and related disorders resources
  • Internet access to mental health information and to update c.v.'s, apply for jobs online etc
  • Social service agencies in the Wairarapa region
  • DVD's on mental health
  • Access to government services information
  • Access to educational and training course information
  • Facilities for students doing mental health research or studies
  • Information on legal issues, human rights and privacy, health and disability
  • Information in Te Reo and some Pacific Island languages
  • Broad variety of pamphlets on all forms of healthcare

Peer To Peer Support Groups:

Groups for men and women where you help yourself to get things back on track by learning to:

  • Build self esteem, assertiveness
  • Identify and develop coping skills
  • Change negative thoughts to positive ones

Members and Friends:

Meet new people, make new friends. This group meets the second Wednesday of each month at Supporting Families at 10:30am for a shared morning tea and to hear a guest speaker.

Volunteer Programme:

  • Provides support to develop confidence and new skills
  • Supports personal development
  • Offers a variety of learning opportunities
  • Prepares volunteers to re-enter the workforce or other community participation
  • Creates a work profile for CVs
