The Youth Addictions and Mental Health Alliance (YAMHA) came together to provide clinical leadership across the Canterbury DHB- funded teams providing child and youth mental health and addictions services within the community.
Community Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a working group initiative, within YAMHA, made up of CAF Services, Odyssey House (Christchurch), Stepping Stone Trust and Pegasus Health. CYMHS aims to increase community access, establish a coordination role and gather information about needs for youth mental health services in Canterbury.
YAMHA members also includes: St John of God Waipuna, PuraPura Whetu, Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust, Christchurch PHO, Christchurch City Mission, CDHB CAFLink, CDHB Schools’ Mental Health Team and CDHB Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services.

The Community Youth Facilitators work alongside young people aged 13 to 18 and their families that are struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues and/or alcohol or addiction issues. Manu Ka Rere is a free service for young people aged 13-24 who are seeking support for their wellbeing. We offer face to face counselling sessions, group work, group work therapy, education and other activities. This is a collboration between Odyssey House Trust Christchurch, Stepping Stone, PuraPura Whetu, Wellbeing North Canterbury, Ashburton Community Alcohol and Drug Service, 298 Youth Health Centre, City Mission & Waipuna, who work collectively to deliver this service.
