Description

Dayspring provides mental health support, counselling, and programmes for mothers of children up to five years of age.

Dayspring is a registered charitable trust.  As a community organisation we provide services that support and positively influence the pathways for women and their families/whānau. The wellbeing of the mother means families can flourish and grow and ultimately affects the health of the communities we live in. Maternal Mental Health Support Service

Dayspring provides professional maternal mental health support for women who are experiencing postnatal depression or anxiety, or are living with an existing mental health issue. We provide: Support to mothers to build capacity and maintain wellness Assistance in finding the right support networks Connection and support groups for mothers Strengths-based approach in working with mothers Goal setting and personal plans Ensure most effective care by working alongside health professionals Life Skill Courses (i.e nutrition, cooking, sewing, mindfulness, self-defence) Creche for children under 3 years while mothers attend Dayspring programmes and/or counselling Advocacy (i.e WINZ, Housing, Corrections, Court, Health related matters)

Who can receive our service?

  • Waitemata DHB residents (Waitakere and North Shore)
  • People receiving clinical services from the Waitemata DHB Adult and Maternal Mental Health Services or Primary Care
  • Women from the age 18+

Mothers can access support and connection while participating in small group activities with other mothers. Our on-site crèche enables parents and caregivers to attend our programmes while we care for their baby/child under 3 years nearby. There is a suggested contribution of $20 per term for families who use the creche.

Referral Process

The Circle of Security Parenting Programme is suitable for parents who may be interested in understanding and improving their relationship with their children or may be struggling with managing challenging behaviours.

Access
Access can be via self/whānau referral or via Community Mental Health Teams, Maternal Mental Health Team, Oranga Tamariki, Plunket and community organisations.
Caregivers must have children in their care or have regular weekly visitation to be able to participate in the programme. The child should be able to crawl or walk, so is best for parents with children 6-9 months and older.
