Grief Centre is a charitable trust, established in 2009. Our services are designed to offer loss and grief support to youth, adults, families or whānau experiencing any form of significant loss.

We also provide professional development, community talks and events and partnerships with funeral homes to provide bereavement support.

Fees and Charges Description

Counselling: Although we are a charity, we do not receive Government funding. See our therapists’ standard rate here. We offer a sliding scale and sometimes have funding available to partially or fully-fund sessions for certain eligible clients. WINZ subsidies may be available for eligible clients.

We are a fully-funded ACC provider for free sexual harm counselling.

Hours

Mon – Fri 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Office hours are 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday. Please contact us for specific counselling room hours.
We are closed on public holidays.

We are not a crisis service. If you need urgent assistance, please contact your GP or see our website for the contact details of appropriate organisations: https://www.griefcentre.org.nz/contact/

Public Holidays: Closed Good Friday (18 Apr), Easter Sunday (20 Apr), Easter Monday (21 Apr), ANZAC Day (25 Apr), King's Birthday (2 Jun), Matariki (20 Jun), Labour Day (27 Oct), Waitangi Day (6 Feb).

Description

Grief Centre partners with funeral homes to provide Bereavement Support services. This is a proactive, caring and professional service supporting families after the funeral and includes:

  • A brochure about the funeral home, a booklet on loss and grief and an introduction letter
  • A caring phone call and ongoing phone support for whānau or a family member
  • Complimentary counselling session (subsidised thereafter)
  • Anniversary card
