Description
One for the Road is a group programme for repeat drink or drugged drivers that is designed to promote and support changes to avoid further impaired driving.
It sounds like the last thing a repeat impaired driver needs, but this is a group therapy programme for drink/drug drivers. Our programme helps participants by looking at the issues that may be contributing to their behaviour.
Participants receive support from Harmony Pasifika’s facilitators and the other group members who share similar experiences and goals. Each group is contained in numbers to better support participants.
The aim of this group is to help people remain abstinent from drink/drug driving. One for the Road has shown good outcomes with only 7.5 percent of graduates (1 in 13 people) being reconvicted for drink driving over a three-year period following the programme, and a 20.2 percent reduction in re-offending.
Typically the group begins with an initial six hour workshop on day one followed by weekly sessions for approximately nine weeks. Upon completing the full programme, an individual will receive a certificate which they can present in court or to their referrer.
We also support graduates through the In Harmony Progress Group.
