Provide cultural care to Māori who are already receiving mental health or addiction support within South Canterbury Mental Health and Addictions Service.

Hauora Māori Mental Health

The Hauora Māori team are located in the Kensington Centre and provide cultural care to service users who identify as Māori. They assist with the wellbeing of takata whaiora and their whānau by providing cultural assessments and supporting recovery through the Te Whare Tapa Whā model. They can also assist takata whaiora with the process of reconnecting with their whānau, iwi and hapū if this is requested. A special room in the Kensington building (Te Whare Tiaki Mahana) is available for whānau meetings, if required.

The Hauora Māori team Community Support Workers are available to Māori who are already receiving mental health or addiction support within South Canterbury Mental Health and Addictions Service.
