Pongarosa is a wellbeing centre offering equine therapy and a range of experiential and holistic support services for children, adolescents, and adults.
As reflected in our services, we utilise horses, animals, groups, and creative modalities.

Equine Therapy and Equine Assisted Wellbeing Sessions

Animal Assisted Therapy uses the human-animal bond in goal directed therapy interventions as an essential part of the treatment process. AAT can support you with: • Psychophysiological Health • Anxiety and Distress • Pain Management • Dementia • Depression • Emotion Regulation and Emotion Recognition • Motivation • Self-Esteem Enhancement • Children with Developmental Disorders • Children and Adolescents with Emotional and Behavioural Problems • Trauma • Physically Disabled Persons • Substance Abuse Working with horses can help individuals learn how to recognise and manage their emotions, leading to better emotional control and awareness. Equine therapy is a somatic therapy that supports the mind-body connection. Our group work is designed for ACC-sensitive claims and is trauma-informed, working with PTSD and trauma. This is based in Pukekohe Puni. Individual Equine therapy is based in Tuakau, Franklin and designed for both ACC sensitive claims clients and private clients wanting to work on their mental health, including anxiety and depressive symptoms.
