Tui Ora is the largest community-based health and social services provider in Taranaki delivering a full range of mental health and addiction supports. We are a kaupapa Māori organisation built on the aspirations of all Taranaki iwi.

Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Service

This service provides alcohol and drug counselling for adults 18+. It is a community outpatient based service provided by trained practitioners who work from our Hāwera, New Plymouth and Waitara offices. Services include assessment, counselling and treatment, brief intervention, relapse prevention, referral to residential treatment and AOD education. Peer supporters with lived experience around alcohol and drug addiction are also available through the Mātanga Tautoko ā-Aropā service.

Description

Our 24-hour care and support is provided by appropriately trained and qualified staff who support recovery and rehabilitation skills. Who is this service for?
Tangata Whai ora and whānau with experience of mental illness. It is available for those registered with mental health services. 

Description

Taiohi Ora Youth Wellness programme

Taiohi Ora Youth Wellness aims to empower taiohi (young people) and help them develop emotional and behavioural resilience through a range of short term interventions that use a whānau-centric approach. Young people aged 10-18 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues are eligible, with a focus on Māori and Pasifika youth and those at high risk of entering the mental health system. Our free and confidential service can help taiohi who are experiencing: Distress because of difficult life experiences and circumstances e.g. bullying, relationship issues and stress Mild-moderate mental health e.g. depression/low mood, anxiousness and anger Taiohi requiring support with managing emotions and associated behaviours to increase their level of wellbeing and resilience. Taiohi Ora includes a Kaiwhakapiki Hauora team (consisting of a social worker, nurse and counsellor) and kaihāpai - community connectors who work within our communities to identify and engage with whānau and taiohi who need help. Taiohi Ora Youth Wellness aims to empower taiohi (young people) and help them develop emotional and behavioural resilience through a range of short term interventions that use a whānau-centric approach. The service is free, confidential and we can come to you at any time - wherever you are. We know quitting is tough and group programmes enable you to give up with family, friends or work colleagues. If those around you are determined to break the habit, you will be too. Referral Process

The Smoking Cessation Referral pathway is simple. People are referred via best practice (GPs), a smoking cessation form (Te Whatu Ora / TDHB) or TSSS referral form (all other referrers including self-referrals).
