Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic, Trauma and Spinal surgeon at Southland Hospital in Invercargill. I underwent specialist orthopaedic training in the UK and developed a sub-specialist interest in spinal surgery culminating in a spinal fellowship at one of the largest spinal centres in the UK at the same time. I then worked as an orthopaedic, trauma and spinal consultant in the UK for almost eight years and during this time the majority of my work comprised all aspects of spinal surgery including cervical (degenerative, trauma, disc replacements, fusions), thoracic (mainly trauma) and lumbar (all aspects including anterior/posterior approaches, fusion procedures, disc replacements). I also perform facet injections, foraminal epidural steroid injection and sacroiliac joint injections as both diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalities.

I emigrated to Invercargill with my wife in December 2011 to take up my current post as Southland Hospital and, in the private sector, at Southern Cross Invercargill.

I have introduced a cervical spine service to Invercargill complementing the existing lumbar spine service.

My practice offers both cervical and lumbar disc replacements as well as fusion for the residents of Invercargill and surrounding areas.
