Community pharmacy anticoagulant management Service (CPAMS) – INR testing for warfarin patients

Warfarin is used by some people as a blood thinning medicine e.g. after a stroke. It is important that blood results are regularly checked. This service involves having a quick test (finger prick) in the pharmacy to work out the correct dose. This saves you a trip to your local laboratory and waiting for your blood test to be processed.

Our CPAM Service allows our accredited pharmacists to provide both INR testing and warfarin dosage adjustment within our pharmacy.

  • The test is only a small finger prick test
  • The results are available in minutes
  • The pharmacist will give you a printed record of your next warfarin dose immediately
  • The pharmacist will text, e-mail or ring when your next test is due
  • For eligible patients there is no charge for this service

If you are interested in our Anticoagulant Management Service you will need to:

  •   talk to your GP to see if you are eligible for this free service
  •   obtain your GP’s consent
  •   sign a consent form yourself.

You don’t need to get your medicines from Northcross Pharmacy to be eligible for this service.

We are also able to perform INR tests for patients visiting our area from other parts of New Zealand or from overseas.  There is a charge for this service of $35 per test.
