Many of the patients visiting St Marks Breast Centre will be referred by their General Practitioner or another medical specialist. Self referrals however, are always accepted although we would always encourage keeping the General Practitioner updated with the outcome so that they can continue to provide appropriate primary healthcare.
Some private health insurance companies require you to be referred by your General Practitioner in order to validate your health insurance. Please check this with your individual private health insurance provider.
Appointments can be made by phone, fax or email.
Please bring any previous mammograms, ultrasounds or scans that you have had done with you. If you have a breast problem the first appointment might include a clinical examination, mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. You should expect to be at St Marks for up to an hour on your first visit. The inital consultation with one of our specialist Breast Surgeons regarding breast augmentation or reduction is free.
