Surgical Sperm Retrieval

Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) may be recommended when sperm is not present in the ejaculate. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic where a biopsy of the testis is obtained. This sample is then processed in our laboratory and assessed for live sperm. Sufficient sperm can be obtained in 80 percent of procedures performed, sperm collected in this way is used for ICSI treatment.
